Starting Your Own Internet Business

If you are like many, then you are probably tired of working a full time job just to make someone else rich. Having no control over your schedule, a lack of respect and not enough money are just a few of the reasons that people are looking for new ways to earn a living. Many are turning to the internet with the hopes of starting their own home-based business, which is a chance that is really paying of for many entrepreneurs - literally.

There is no question that it can be intimidating to start your own business. It’s scary, unpredictable and time consuming. But, it’s also very exciting and the responsibility that comes with operating your own business is more satisfying than any other job in the world. When deciding to start your own home-based business, your first decision will be to decide what type of product or service you want to offer. What is your main area of expertise and how much experience do you have in that field? The next line of business will be to select a title for your new venture. A business name should be something catchy, unique and reflect on the theme of your company. On the internet, your business name will be the first thing that customers notice, so try and draw them in with a title that really grabs their attention.

Now that you are in the early planning stages of your new business, you will need to find out what, if any, licenses your new business will require. It is also important to have either a separate bank account for your business income or another accurate way to keep your business income separate from your other household income. It is a good idea to keep records and documentation on everything, including expenses, income, advertising costs, etc.

If you are going to be operating a business on the internet, then you will likely need a website. There are some really terrific selections of turnkey websites available. These are ideal for the entrepreneur who doesn’t have a lot of knowledge in designing and building a website because all of the work is done for you. And best of all, they look very professional and are already fully functioning so they require no additional programming. In addition, turnkey opportunities are ideal for anyone who simply doesn’t have the time to devote to website construction.

Affiliate opportunities are also terrific ideas for new business owners and often require little or no inventory and costs nothing to get you started. If you become an affiliate for another company, you are essentially helping them to sell their product(s) in exchange for a commission. If having no inventory to keep track of is appealing to you, then perhaps you would be interested in working with a dropshipper. In this scenario, you sell a product to the consumer at the retail price, pay a dropshipper their wholesale price for that product, instruct them to ship to your buyer and they do so directly from their warehouse.

The most important thing to remember when starting your own internet business is that anything is possible. Don’t be afraid to try something new and never give up. There is literally a whole world of consumers out there just waiting for the next innovative idea. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and take your big idea for a spin on the internet superhighway.

Home Based Business - Tips for Time Management

Unless we devote enough time for our home business we cannot expect to get positive results. Just setting up a home business is not sufficient. It will not run on its own.

You may think that you are fully occupied with your home management and left with no free time at your disposal, even though you wished it so. If you really want to make some extra bucks from home along with managing your home and kids, lack of time cannot be considered as an excuse. If that strong will is there, all that you have to do is make adjustments with your routine work at home and proper time management. It can be easily achieved by little bit of planning and organising your routine work.

1. It is worth remembering the old saying, “If there is a will there is a way”. If you organize your work in a better way you will be surprised to find that extra time that you very badly needed to devote towards your home based business.

2. Spend some time thinking to find out where your time is spent more than it is absolutely needed. Ask yourself “Can I manage this work by reducing 15 minutes of my time spent for this”? If more of your time is spent in cooking you have to sit and think how you can finish your cooking faster and get some time from that task. The easier thing will be if you plan what you are going to do in advance instead of rushing each time. A planned work can be finished faster than the one done without any planning.

3. Teaching the kids to be self- disciplined and self-reliant is another method to find time. If they can do some of their work without your help you will get some free time. The older child can be given the responsibility of taking care of the younger ones when you are busy with your home business or other work, for which don’t forget to reward them for their understanding. Also engage them with something they enjoy doing when you are busy with your work.

4. Are you spending more time watching television? Do you think it is absolutely essential to spend that much time? By giving up some of your regular serials and soaps you will find some extra time at your disposal.

Not only the ones mentioned above, anything which takes your time such as gardening, shopping, paying bills, running errands, visiting friends and relatives, afternoon naps, chatting and gossiping with friends etc can be reevaluated and you will be able to squeeze some time there.

In the beginning, this type of adjustments will be little difficult, but soon you will see its worth. But once your mind is set for finding time to work for your home business, gradually it will become a practice of finishing your work faster. You will soon find the extra time for what you always wanted to do.

Advertising Agency in India

With a huge Indian population and a growing economy, the advertising industry in India finds interesting opportunities to establish itself and make profits. Soon after independence there came a number of Indian advertising agency which were promoted by the public sector. However, with liberalization, a number of multinationals came into the country to set up offices and preferred agencies of the same origin.

Thus, as the Indian economy opened, Indian ad agencies started selling out their equities to foreign agencies to earn great profits. And today, we have multinational agencies with their offices in India, holding the top positions in terms of annual profits. Not just this, the Indian creative talent is also being recognized globally. The multinationals are using the agencies in India, appointed by them, to not only create advertising for the Indian market but also for their international markets, especially Asia. Thus, the opportunities for advertising agency in India are immensely rising.

The ad agencies in India today are not just developing creative ideas for print and TV commercials, but are diversifying in a big way. They are treading newer paths to reach customers. This they are doing by harnessing the power of unconventional media such as ground promotions in malls, events, movies, celebrity endorsements, etc. For example, Lintas has a separate division for rural advertising, called Linterland, and a division for promoting brands in the entertainment sector including movies, music, etc., called Lintertainment.

Thus, a single ad agency today, is providing a plethora of services from content creation, developing the artwork, TVCs, radio jingles, internet advertising, promotion in movies, outdoor advertising, POPs, media planning, public relations services, marketing consultancy services, amongst others.

I write articles related to Marketing and advertise services of http://www.exchange4media.com

With a vast consumer base and a good reputation over the last 5 years in the industry, the company provides great opportunities to advertisers to advertise with them and reach out effectively to their clients.

Buy A Business Without Going Broke

Controversial as it sounds, you don’t need a lot of special training or knowledge to
analyze a business you want to buy. You don’t need any special degrees or training.
And you don’t need to empty your bank account.

One of the things you may want to invest a little cash in (although not a lot),
however, is when it comes to analyzing the inventory.

In fact, I heartily recommend you use the outside inventory companies. They’re
listed in the Yellow Pages under “I”.

Why do I want you to use an outside inventory company?

Four reasons:

1.) You’re going to find that they’re very good people. They are very professional
and they are knowledgeable in the area of the inventory that you are buying or
you’re selling. You’re also going to find the expense is not that high. Usually they’re
pretty cheap.

2.) You’re also going to find generally that they’re bonded. That means if a mistake
is made by these companies in handling the inventory or appraising the inventory or
valuing the inventory during a transaction, they’re good for it.

3.) We normally find that buyers and sellers end up arguing and fighting and kill a
transaction if they’re together any more than 40 seconds. (No joke!)

4.) Perhaps most important of all: The average buyer of a business is not as
knowledgeable in the stock room inventory as the seller, and this then puts you on
even footing with the seller. It gives you a chance in the transaction.

People find it shocking when I say buying and analyzing a business isn’t rocket
science. And most of the preliminary things really can be done cheap or free. But
there are times when it’s better to call in the professionals. And analyzing the
inventory is one of those times.

Connections - Support and Stress … What Every Business Person Should Know

In past articles, I have discussed the importance of communication and the impact of poor communication on individual and organizational levels of stress. More basic than this is the need to connect effectively with people. Obviously, communication difficulties, contribute to poor connections and lead to increased stress and poor performance. At the core of this issue is the innate desire to make connection for support, protection, and potential growth of the community. By “connection,” I mean relating well with another person or group of people, where this relationship can include concern, nuturing, support, or a demonstration of care. It can be any combination of: emotional, intellectual, spiritual, or physical, and shows a “sharing” in some personal way.

Many people have not had good models of positive, “healthy” relationships. Other people have not been taught the skills for connecting. And still others, for personal reasons (based on negative past experience) choose to sabotage their relationships and the relationships of people around them. This happens at home and at work, and everywhere in between.

People suffering from poor or non-existent healthy interaction with other people can suffer from a range of physical and emotional symptoms. These might include: depression, panic/anxiety, chronic back pain, poor sleep, stomach disorders, low libido, high blood pressure, even cancer (due to loss of a loved one or lack of a source of love.)

In primitive times, our fragile, but developing ancestors, needed to band together for hunting and protection. In the modern world, these primitive needs may seem somewhat removed for most of us in a “civilized” world, but there is added pressure to connect socially, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, romantically, and even financially. Most of us would wither in health and quality of life without intimacy with other people. We need family, friends, teachers, and partners at work. Remember our need for others is linked to reduced self-sufficiency and reliance on products and services that other people produce.

Things go wrong in our attempts to “connect.” We do not feel “whole” when we do not have support. People get very stressed when they feel “alone.” Our society seems to move us more into cubicles and isolation by reducing experience where interaction with other people is face-to-face. E-mail, for example, is preferred to telephone calls or visits which can require social graces and non-business interaction.

Physical interaction, though desired, seems to be reduced by fears of inappropriate behaviors or actions. Our skills of communication decrease as we interact with computer screens, e-mails, and PDA’s instead of people.

Stress management and wellness often requires us to reduce noise and interactions so that we can focus on the process of internally quieting to regain levels of calmness. But stress management and wellness also require that most of us have positive connection and interaction with caring people.

If you find this is lacking or unsatisfied in your life, you may want to examine alternatives that provide positive human interaction. Volunteering in your community may be a great source of positive interaction. One of my friends visits weekly with an elderly person (not a relative) to provide some balance and positive connection in his life. Both of these people profit from the few minutes that they spend together. Church activities, coaching in youth sports, teaching reading in schools, community involvement, team sports, group activities (hiking, hobbies, fund raising) and many other activities can provide the opportunities to connect with other people.

The excuse many people use for not doing these activities is that they do not have the time or energy. You must make the time to connect and you will find that energy comes to you when you effectively connect in positive ways. Please try to connect for yourself and support others who need this in their lives. Do not neglect your relationships with friends. These require encouragement, investments in time and energy, and your deep desire to maintain these important interactions. Even when you feel wounded and want to withdraw, I encourage you to attempt to connect with positive people and situations in your environment which offer you support and help you to move forward in the most positive ways.

Remember, you can not control the way other people respond. You can only control the way you respond to the experiences that you may have. In relationships, timing is very importment. What may be good timing for you may not the best time for your partner. Try to not take a perceived rejection of your attempt at relating, too seriously. It may not be you at all, but poor timing. Never stop trying to find the best situation for connection (and work to make every existing relationship even better.)

Along the way, do not forget to take good care of yourself!

Positive Net Cash

Every investor’s goal is to find undervalued investment and then sell it when it reaches fair value. To find the fair value of a common stock, we need to predict the profits generated by the stock over a period of time. This prediction may not be accurate. After all, nobody can know the future with 100% certainty. When things unexpectedly turn ugly, investors need to guard themselves against capital losses. The way to reduce this risk is by investing in companies with positive net cash.

Net Cash is the difference between cash & short-term investments with the amount of long term debt. We can find this three items on the balance sheet of every company. A lot of times, one can include long term investment as cash. Long term investment can include instruments such as 18 month Certificate of Deposit or treasury bond maturing one year or more. To be on the safe side, let us consider just cash and short-term investments.

You might wonder why we do not subtract short-term liabilities such as accounts payable. Good question. The reason is that accounts payable is normally used to buy inventories. Some of the revenue is also tied up in accounts receivable. In normal business operation, these two things can be used to pay for short-term liabilities. There are of course exceptions such as banks where they use short-term liabilities ( customers’ deposit) to give loans (long-term investments) to businesses or individuals.

Once we understand why we define net cash the way they are, we can then appreciate the function of it. Net Cash defines the financial structure of a company. We can tell companies with strong financial structure by looking at its net cash position. Generally, investing in companies with positive net cash is less risky.

As the word implies, positive net cash means that the company has more cash in hand than long term debt. In other words, the company is less leveraged and less burdened with debt. It can pay its long term debt right away if it wants to. This is the right way to leverage a business.

All of our sample portfolio stock picks have a positive net cash on their balance sheet. The reason is that when our prediction fails, the company is less likely to go bankrupt. When a company has plenty of cash, it can afford to incur losses until its business turn around.

Another reason is that companies with positive net cash can afford to buy assets on the cheap during economic downturn. When the economy is in a bad shape and losses are mounting, weaker companies tend to raise cash by selling off its valuable assets. Companies with positive net cash will be there to buy.

Finally, companies with positive net cash can afford to buy back shares or give dividends even when businesses are bad. It is no surprise. They have more financial muscles than others to be generous. This will benefit common shareholders like us.

There are some investors that feel that companies with positive net cash are not efficient. They reason that companies should take advantage of the power of leverage so that it can maximize shareholders’ return. Well, their view is not wrong. Buying companies with positive net cash might not give you a 10 fold return in one year. But, you won’t lose all your capital in one year either. It is all up to you. Do you want to maximize your investment return with incredible risk? Or do you want to get a decent return while minimizing your risk? I prefer the latter.
